Of the thread title?
I believe America is pretty much living the "new old fashioned way". All of the so-called traditions and such got their start 100 years ago or less. Many of our holidays are based on corporate icons. Lots of mass-produced plastic all around. Our daily lives are impacted greatly by many objects that were not here 100 years ago. Could you imagine daily life without any motorized vechicles, television monitors or means of communication like telephones or computers? All of that stuff is just considered the way of life now.
